Divers Clean Action (DCA) is a youth-led NGO providing evidence-based solutions to tackle marine debris issues in Indonesia through a series of innovative and collaborative actions.

Collaboration with DCA
DCA was first established as a response to emerging issues of marine debris as stated by Jambeck et al (2015) that Indonesia is the second biggest marine polluter. So, DCA takes part with providing accountable data of existing Indonesia’s marine debris status through research and development with LIPI and various universities.
Their research is one of their key programs as a part of their advocacy to governments in order to develop sustainable waste management system to reduce waste leakage to open environment. Our collaboration with DCA includes giving off support for DCA’s research activity through regular beach cleanups in Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta.

We are proud to have contributed to DCA’s work in producing a national database of marine debris for better policy-making processes that DCA has been regularly coordinating with Regional Government of Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency and National Park of Kepulauan Seribu.
Our support leverages DCA’s advocacy process in support of formulating a better waste management system for significant reduction in waste leakage from mainland to sea which local people of Kepulauan Seribu have greatly suffered.
